Led by EHS member Carie Ost, we will consider several potential situations which pose a difficult choice, either of which may mean violating one’s sense of right and wrong. We’ll break into small groups to examine how we might respond, and then share our answers.

Jennifer Walling, Executive Director of the Illinois Environmental Council, oversees the strategic direction and management of the IEC and lobbies decision makers on environmental issues. Jen will tell us about her work there and some pending environmental legislation in Illinois. She will also share some action steps that we can take to nurture nature in Illinois and protect our planet.
Jen Walling has served as the Executive Director for the Illinois Environmental Council since January of 2011, where she oversees the strategic direction and management of the organization and lobbies decision makers on environmental issues. Jen is dedicated to building the power of Illinois’ environmental community to secure policy outcomes that protect the environment.

Our Creative Writers group is starting up again and all interested writers are invited to our first meeting on Sunday, April 21, following the regular program. Our purpose is to encourage and support aspiring or experienced writers in the community (and beyond) and cultivate our written expressions of the human experience. Led by Charlie Saxe, we will meet in person monthly, attend various literary events, and keep in touch virtually. Join us and indulge in the delight of creativity and discovery.

Kevin Pang is a James Beard award-winning food writer, and his debut book, A Very Chinese Cookbook: 100 Recipes from China and Not China (But Still Really Chinese) was named one of the best cookbooks of 2023 by the New York Times. He's also the general manager of America's Test Kitchen and co-hosts the cooking series "Hunger Pangs" with his father, Jeffrey Pang. Kevin will share how cooking helped him grow closer with his father and connect with his heritage.
